A Day of Joy & Full Plates: Our Cookout in Kawangware
At Uncle Joe’s Foundation, we believe that community is built around shared meals and shared hearts. On Jan 31st 2026, that belief came alive in vibrant color, sound, and flavor during our community cookout in Kawangware.

The air was filled with the incredible aroma of spices as our dedicated volunteers cooked up giant pots of flavorful pilau—a beloved local dish.

The excitement was palpable as we welcomed approximately 100 wonderful children for an afternoon dedicated to joy, nourishment, and care.

For many of these kids, a plate piled high with delicious, hot food is a precious gift. We were honored to serve them not just pilau, but also fresh cabbage, refreshing juice, and sweet, sun-ripened fruits—crisp watermelon and juicy pineapple. Seeing their smiles as they enjoyed every bite was the greatest reward.

But the day was about more than a meal. Thanks to the generous donations from our supporters, we also held a clothes giveaway.

For a child, a new item of clothing is more than just fabric; it’s a boost of dignity, a bit of confidence, and a tangible sign that someone cares. Watching kids proudly select and show off their new shirts or dresses was a profoundly moving experience.
The Kawangware cookout was a powerful reminder of our mission: to meet immediate needs with compassion and to create moments of pure, uncomplicated happiness. It’s in the laughter of a child with a sticky piece of watermelon, in the shared meal among friends, and in the simple comfort of a new set of clothes.
None of this would be possible without you. Your donations, your volunteer spirit, and your belief in our work fuel these moments of connection and support.
